A poem by one of our clients.

It’s Time For Wings of L.I.F.E.
(To the Founder – Ann)
Armando H. Montez, Sr.
August 2, 2010

There are times to be born and to celebrate.
There are times for love and care.
There are times for joy and dancing.
There are times for learning and understanding.

There are times for sharing and giving.
There are times for building and rebuilding.
There are times speaking and listening.
There are times for shouting and silence.

Now it’s time to share the warmth of Wings for L.I.F.E.
Now it’s time for Wings for L.I.F.E. to open its wings to our communities, and share its knowledge, love and care,
Now it’s time for all of us to open our hearts and feelings, so Wings for L.I.F.E. can help others with their lives.

Now it’s time to close this poem.
The time will never end for Wings for L.I.F.E.
Now it’s time for me to thank you and God.
Bless you.
Now it’s time for me to say good bye.

WOW! What a great meeting!

Last night WFL hosted a fashion show you would not believe. Models wore clothes they bought at thrift stores or yard sales and showed off beautiful outfits that cost little or nothing.

Ann kept up an entertaining commentary regarding the models and their spiffy ensembles they chose to wear. From little tykes going into kindergarten on up to a fabulous senior couple showing how to get around with a broken foot, it was quite an evening. There were over 70 guests that enjoyed the runway show!

Boy, did we learn a lot of ways on how to have fun this summer in Albuquerque and not spend much money! Jen shared many educational and family oriented ideas on things to do and where to go. Her handouts were very informative and hope to have some extras for next week's meeting at 2nd Presbyterian Church.

The meeting on Summer Food & Yum-yums was really yummy! Joy shared tips and secrets about her delicious guacamole dip and the final product didn't last long with our appreciative crowd. Usually our meetings end right at 7:30 pm but everyone was enjoying kitchen tidbits and the tasty delights that Ann and her son, Curtis, were serving up. It was almost 8 pm before the last morsel was eaten and the contented members left (full and happy!) It was Fun & Informative!

Did you make the WFL meeting on June 1? If not, you missed a powerful one. Ann Edenfield Sweet talked about coming home (from prison) and since she had a husband who came home she really knew what she was talking about.

The poignant moment was when a young man told his story of being incarcerated for 19 months and how and whhy he changed his life for the good. A young lady, who had been confined for 30 months, stood and told her story about coming home. They both agreed being caught was a good thing for it helped them to realize they had to change their life styles, and they did!

Our meeting coming up on June 8th is titled "summer Foods & Yum-Yums!" This will prove to be a 'delicious' meeting learning how to make Orange Julius and Fruit Slushes, guacamole, homemade treats that taste like Reece's Peanut Butter Cups plus many more yum-yums!

Join us at Second Presbyterian Church, corner of Lomas & Edith, park in lot on N. side of church off Page Rd. Enter social hall through E. door.
